Proefnotitie: In het glas toont de Tesseron Estate Pym-Rae een diepe granaatpaarse tint. De neus wordt verwend met geuren van gekonfijte viooltjes, verwelkte rozen en zwarte thee, verweven met tonen van rode en zwarte bessen, en afgerond met een hint van sigarenkistje en kamferfoelie. De mond wordt veroverd door een harmonieuze samensmelting van elegant fruit en fijnkorrelige tannines, culminerend in een geparfumeerde en langdurige afdronk.

Gevestigd op de roemrijke hellingen van Mount Veeder, onthult Tesseron Estate Pym-Rae een verhaal van traditie, terroir en ongeëvenaarde toewijding. Dit prestigieuze domein staat op een hoogte van 500 meter in Napa Valley. Hier komen sedimentaire bodems samen, rijk aan historische maritieme fossielen die zich gedurende miljoenen jaren hebben ontwikkeld, wat resulteert in wijnen van diepte en complexiteit.
In 2016 koopt Alfred Tesseron de historische wijngaard van wijlen acteur Robin Williams en markeert het begin van een nieuw tijdperk. Alfred Tesseron is de visionaire eigenaar van het iconische Chateau Pontet-Canet in Bordeaux. De wijng Pym-Rae is vernoemd naar de koosnamen van Williams' kinderen, Pym en Rae.
De zorgvuldig gecultiveerde wijngaard strekt zich uit over bijna 20 hectare, met een samenstelling van Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot en Cabernet Franc. De wijnstokken zijn 30 a 35 jaar oud en met veel liefde behandeld en beschermd. De steile en uitdagende hellingen van het landgoed, gecombineerd met de geavanceerde biodynamische wijnbouw zorgt voor een bescheiden oogst. Dit benadrukt de exclusiviteit van Tesseron Estate en het resultaat is ronduit magistraal: een wijn die zich al bij de wereldtop heeft gevoegd.
Met een jaarlijkse productie van minder dan 15.000 flessen, is elke fles Tesseron Estate Pym-Rae een zeldzaamheid - een weerspiegeling van zowel de historische erfenis van de grond als de uitzonderlijke expertise van de Tesseron-familie.

The 2019 vintage
2019 is a vintage of balance, energy and tension. The beginning of the year was marked by abundant rains which preserved humidity in the clay soils until bud burst. A long and hot summer followed, punctuated by misty mornings, with no significant heat wave, and ending with a mild end of season. This climatic balance combined with the altitude of the vineyard allowed us to produce vibrant and expressive wines, preserving freshness and finesse to the fruit. The tannins are silky, the fruit exceptional and the texture ample, signs of a great vintage. The biodynamic culture follows its course.2019 becomes our first vintage to be certified by Demeter USA.

From Alfred Tessron's (owner of Pontet Canet in Pauillac) estat'e on Mount Veeder, the 2019 Pym Rae is a blend of 60 % Cabernet sauvignon, 20 % Merlot and 20 % Cabernet Franc. Deep Purple-black colored, it requires a fait bit of swirling before it charges out of the gate with bold notes of crem de cassis, black cherry compote, and blueberry pie, followed by suggestions of clove oil, lilacs, licorice, and tar, plus a spicy waft of cumin seed. The full-bodied palate delivers beguiling energy from the brightness of fruit, bursting with fragrant floral notes, minerally sparks and exotic spices. It has a tout backbone of invigorating acidity, matched by firm, ripe, grainy tannins, supporting the epic long, multi-layered finish. This 2019 is the vinous definition of opulence. This is the first vintage certified organic and biodynamic. Only about 20.000 bottles were made and are due to be released in autumn 2023. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown

Extremely aromatic with flowers, currants, plums, and cocoa. Full-bodied with compacted fruit and ultra-fine tannins giving it a suppleness and finesse, yet it’s very structured and long. Turns to sandalwood, hazelnut and subtle currants. Round and velvety texture at the end. Slightly deeper and denser. 55% new French barrels and 45% concrete eggs for 18 months. 80% cabernet sauvignon, 15% cabernet franc and 5% merlot. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification. Needs four or five years. An excellent mountain wine from the family owners of Pontet Canet.
