Château Léoville Poyferré is 2ième Grand Cru Classé uit Saint-Julien. De oorsprong van het château gaat terug tot 1638. In die tijd was Léoville het grootste landgoed van de Médoc, maar heeft verschillende eigenaren gekend die uiteindelijk resulteerden in een opsplitsing van het château in meerdere huizen. De in Bordeaux bekende Cuvelier-familie is sinds 1979 eigenaar van Château Léoville Poyferré.

"Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Léoville Poyferré needs a little coaxing to reveal pretty scents of violets, Black Forest cake and blueberry preserves with hints of raspberry leaves, roses, cigar box and fragrant earth. Medium-bodied, the palate has a quiet intensity with loads of subtle layers and a well-poised frame of soft, fine-grained tannins, finishing long and refreshing." - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 94/100 "A red with currant and blueberry aromas and flavors and some citrus and vanilla. Medium body and creamy, integrated tannins. Shows finesse and depth for the vintage. One of the best from the appellation. Serious for the vintage. Drinkable now, but much better in 2022." - James Suckling 95/100 "Glowing deep crimson. Ripe and glamorous. Not overdone. Rather sweet with silky tannins. Less obvious acidity than the Langoa 2017.
